In Theory This
is a Beginners Soapmaking Class. Beginning soapmakers are lovingly referred to as Soap Newbies. To graduate from being a
soap newbie to an experienced soapmaker takes practice (and time). When you leave our class well encourage you to go forth
and saponify. If you dont know what saponify means, you'll find out in class. We discuss the ingredients, equipment and various
methods used to make soap. We help students learn how to develop their own recipes. We also emphasize safety precautions.
You will need to bring a simple calculator.
In Practice After
a brief question and answer period, we will make soap using the cold process method. You'll first observe the instructor making
a batch of soap and then students will make a batch on their own. Class fee covers the cost of supplies and instruction. You
must provide eyewear. If you wear glasses, thats fine. If not, please purchase protective eye gear. We suggest trying Lowes
or Home Depot. Wear loose comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting dirty. We are not responsible for ruined clothing.
Each students receives some of the finished (cured) soap. It takes 3-4 weeks to cure cold-processed soap so you can pick it
up or we will send it to you (shipping is an additional cost).

OUR BOOK Bubble Bubble Toil And...Fun
We use it in the mornung...at night...in the shower...or
the bath - SOAP is one of the most widely used products, and yet, most people know very little about it. They know it helps
to get them clean but where did it originate, how is it made, and more importantly, what goes into making soap?
Most
of us can't even pronounce ingredients found in commercial products and many so-called "natural" products may
not be all that natural.
Bubble, Bubble, Toil And...Fun provides information needed for selecting products which
are actually good for your skin. It's not just a "how to" book for making soap.
However, there is
a complete section on how to make cold=processed soap, chapters on handmilling soap, melt & pour and transparent soap
plus some basic soap recipes. Useful charts for the soapmaker have been included.
There's even a chapter on
easy-to-make recipes using ingredients purchased at your local green market or grocery store.
